Hi Everyone. Welcome to my about page. My name is Joelene Schmidt and i am 19 for those of you that do not know me. I would like to share with you a little bit about myself, so i hope that you enjoy.
I grew up in Lanigan Saskatchewan… I know, where is that, right? well haha google has maps so i won’t go into too much detail. Anyways, i grew up in Lanigan and have lived in Lanigan all my life. Attended Elementary school and High School there. Met alot of great friends in and around Lanigan. When we hit high school, Drake students joined our school because they didn’t have a high school. So met some more friends. (One of which just got married last weekend… WOW that makes me feel old now)
Volleyball was a big sport for me in school. I played on the Lanigan Lazers team for a number of years. played in a lot of tournaments and in some years we won alot and others we just played to have fun. through volleyball i made lots of friends from other teams and am still in contact with them today. Volleyball was a good way for me to meet friends. The one year we had an Japanese Exchange student and because of the volleyball team her and i became great friends and mail each other still after 3 years.
High school was where i finally decided what i wanted to do with my life. I really enjoyed my math class, and my math teacher and i really got along well. whenever she was busy people would come ask me for help, and the best part about it was tat i could help them and they would understand after. So teaching became apart of my life early in high school. When i got to grade 11, i decided to shadow a teacher from Watrous school. I had so much being in the class room on the other side of learning. Thats when teaching became my goal!
After graduation i decided to take a year off before trying to get into University. (Class ’07!!! YAY) I worked full time and took my lunch break from about 10-11 every morning and walked over to the hgih school where i shadowed my high school math teacher. She got me involved in the class even though i was only volunteering. she later got an intern out of winnipeg so i stopped shadowing after approximately 120 hours of volunteering. I had a blast.
I am currently living in Regina. Renting a basement which is awesome. I am attending the University of Regina and have joined the faculty of education program. I am majoring in Mathematics and Minoring in Biology. Teaching is a VERY big passion of mine, and will continue to be for many, many years to come!
